Friends,
If you’re a paid subscriber, you may have noticed that I nixed that function for Theopolitikos a couple weeks back. You won’t be billed anymore.
Unfortunately, that is because the start of the semester, a heavier class load, book promotion, and my daughter’s upcoming surgery will make regular updates impossible. Gone are the Sunday reflections and, at least for the time being, the Loop. These may return at a later date. But for now you’ll just receive the occasional reflection, always theological and/or political in nature and typically having a strong connection to the current *cue the Morgan Freeman voiceover* “discourse.”
I hope to have long reflections on the recent accusations of pedophilia against Michel Foucault and the place of his thought in contemporary politics. (You guessed it: he’s in for a massive intellectual eclipse.) A detailed look at some of recent Bonhoeffer scholarship from Ryan Huber and Di Rayson is coming down the pike too. Finally, if all goes according to plan, for those who have read Bonhoeffer’s America some reflections on discernment, mysticism, and the Spirit will appear as folks debate to what degree I’m right and to what degree I’ve gone off the rails.
Though I’m taking a step back, Theopolitikos is not on pause, and I do hope that this semester’s writings provide food for thought. As always, if you’re in need of a place to publish your own work, send me a note. Whether this outlet might be the proper venue or an online magazine, I’d be glad to help.
Joel
